What a busy week in F1. We started our Summer topic of ‘At the Seaside’ by looking under the sea at the story of ‘Finding Nemo’. We looked at different types of fish, from small clown fish, to huge sharks. In numeracy we have been looking at measuring, seeing how long a fish is, by counting how many paper clips it takes from nose to tail.
Lots of exciting things have happened this week in Foundation.
First, the morning children have been able to visit the library for the first time. The staff at the library very kindly opened up especially for us, so that we could choose a book.
Secondly, in Suretots, we had the huge apparatus out. It was so scarey. We were taller than Mrs Fenton. (It’s not hard to be taller than Mrs Woodhead!)
Thirdly, of course it was Sports day. Weren’t we great. We had a fantastic time doing the bean bag and bucket race, the egg and spoon race and the running running race. Well done Foundation!
This half term our new topic is ‘At the bottom of the garden.’
We have been planting seeds and we have had some caterpillars delivered to nursery. We will be watching what happens to them over the next few weeks and we will put some photos on here for you to look at.
Our last week was so busy! We went on a monster hunt in the woods, had a monster dress up day and a lovely party.
Some of our friends were very frightening! what do you think?
Our next topic is ‘amazing animals’ and we will be reading lots of stories about animals and our continuous provision will have lots of exciting activities based around this theme.
See you soon!
F1 had a lovely walk to the library on Tuesday with their friends from F2. They chose new books and Mrs Fenton read them a fantastic story.
In numeracy this week we have been looking at measure and we have been seeing who is the biggest and who is the smallest. We have been ordering our toys by size.
In literacy we have been mark making and using our own writing to describe characters from the story, ‘Where the wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak.
The last two weeks are going to be so busy!
To celebrate the end of the topic we will be having a monster party on Friday 13th February. It would be lovely if your child could dress up as a monster and any party food would be greatly appreciated.
On Wednesday 11th February all Foundation will be going into the woods on a monster hunt! (Don’t worry, we are finding different pictures of monsters that will be hanging in the trees- not real ones!)
On Tuesday 3rd February the Giraffe group are going to the library for a monster story session and on 10th February the Zebra group and F1 pm children will be doing the same
This week we have been busy writing some Christmas present lists and measuring using Christmas presents! We have been listening for sounds we can hear when we are writing and using words such as short, long, small and large to measure.
Have you been using any of these words at home or have you written a list?
This week is the Foundation Nativity and we are all excited to perform for our parents. We have been practising and feel that we are ready to WOW you with our performance. The costumes we have had in for the F1 children look amazing and we appreciate the efforts you have made for their first nativity performance!!
